You cry and then wipe your eyes and let go and let God deal with it! Those were the words that I remember my Dad telling me when I first found out about my cancer diagnosis. He aslo said that he would give his own life to let me live. That's when I knew that I couldn't give up or give in to this devastating disease called breast cancer. I was alone the day I found out and soon after everything was schedule to take place, like chemo, labs, doctor visits, I was no longer alone on this journey ahea…

I saw my Doctor today, My husband and My Mom were with me. I had plenty of paperwork to fill out of course, new patient thing. I get my vitals checked. The Nurse comments on my beatiful wig, which I love too :)
First, the Doctor comes in and he tells me that he is speechless about my path report coming back with no sign of cancer. He told that I had 42 lymph nodes removed. What's scary is that the average person has 9 removed while a rare number have at the max 23 removed, but a 1% of people ha…

July 7, 2009
Just two days after my husband’s birthday and on the day Michael Jackson had a memorial and was laid to rest, my husband and Mom were with me in the exam room when we had found out such wonderful news. Dr. Homan, who is the best surgeon around, gave me the news of my life and what I had felt all along deep down inside. He told me he has never seen such a response like mine to Chemo therapy treatments. When he first examined me back in January 2009, he was alarmed at how large and ho…

OMG! On Jan. 26, 2009, when I heard the words "you have breast cancer" I felt numb! I wanted to cry like a baby, but I held it together until everything was explained to me, plus I was by myslef so I didn't feel as though I really had a shoulder to cry, I didn't to cry on the doctor's and nurses shoulder because at that point they were strangers to me, you know.
But, the type of person I am, whenever I'm in a bad situation or I assume the worse then if the situation turns out good, I'm 100% rel…

Hello,
On Jan 26, 2009 I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer, Stage IIIA, my tumers were 4cm (HUGE), and I had possible lymph node involvement. Just this one sentence that changed my life completely :(
With all that being said, I can write a book leading up to this date and several months after this date has past. Does anyone want to offer a sweet book deal? Just kidding!
I dont know where to start....
Later,
Tina

Hi there!
YEAH! 6 cycles of chemo and I'm done. My doctor's were amazed at how well I responded to chemo, meaning the original tumors can no longer be felt. Amazing!
Although chemo was very difficult, I thank God for getting me thru.
My next course of treatment is surgery scheduled June 22nd @ Madigan Army Medical Center, FT Lewis, WA.
I will keep you posted.

Hi everyone,
I have had four losses in my life.
1) The loss of my father one year after my marriage. I thank God he was able to walk his only baby girl down the wedding isle before he passed away from pancreatic cancer
2) The loss of my baby. Before I married I was with a gentleman who thought loved me unconditionally. I come to find out differently. I was three months pregnant when I miscarried our baby. I never will forget the loss of my baby (and to date never had another child)
3) The lo…

Hi everyone,
My name is Cindy Papale, author of The Empty Cup Runneth Over, and breast cancer survivor.
The Empty Cup Runneth Over is to help inspire, empower, and educate young women about breast cancer. In my twenty seven years working at the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of Medicine, eleven of those years I worked for a breast surgeon. While the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of medicine is a wonderful hospital many young women still sometimes hear those words "you ar…

Hi everyone,
We are finally in 2009 and many of us have made resolutions to do this or that and to create a better life, with better choices and more joy and prosperity than the previous year.
As I sat down to think of all that had happened in 2008, it came to me. In January, I would focus on being grateful for change. As human beings, we are creatures of comfort.
Even the littlest of changes can upset our routines, make us irritable, off kilter and for those who experience major challenges,…

If not, why not? Early detection could save your life. If you think you're too busy, you're not. Take five minutes out of your BUSY schedule that doesn't include time to honor your body, lay on your back and DO YOUR EXAM! It could save your life. Take it from me, it saved mine...AND, if you don't do them and there is a cancerous lump, it will take more time out of your life, than you might want - to go through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.... Give yourself the gift of you. Handle your bus…

Dying to Be Heard
by Sharon Robbins
In Memorium
October 10, 2003
During the month of October we are bombarded with the message that early detection of breast cancer equals cure...that anyone surviving five years from diagnosis is, indeed "cured". This year, I have decided to speak out. Like many other women, I believed that when my breast cancer was detected early and I had the most aggressive treatment available, I had done my job and could look forward to the rest of my life. I believed the…

Complete list of abstracts/studies presented at the ASCO conference. The summaries and the names of the drugs are probably most helpful, especially those who are interested in clinical trials.
